FAQs
What is an Environmental Accessibility Assessment (EAA)?
An EAA is a professional evaluation of your home conducted by a certified consultant. We examine your living space to identify barriers affecting your mobility, safety, and independence—things like steps at entrances, narrow doorways, dangerous bathrooms, and inaccessible kitchens. The assessment results in a detailed report recommending specific modifications, which is required before most Medicaid waiver programs will approve funding for home modifications.
How long does the process take from assessment to completed modifications?
Timelines vary depending on the complexity of modifications and waiver program approval processes. Simple equipment like grab bars or raised toilet seats can often be delivered within days. Larger modifications like wheelchair ramps or bathroom renovations typically take 4-8 weeks from assessment to completion, including time for EAA report submission, waiver approval, and installation scheduling. We keep you informed at every step so you know what to expect.
How do I get started?
Complete the form above or call us at 727-577-7544. Let us know what challenges you’re facing at home—difficulty getting in and out, unsafe bathroom, trouble with stairs, need for medical equipment—and we’ll help you understand your options and next steps. If you have a support coordinator, we’ll coordinate directly with them. If you don’t, we’ll help you figure out the process.
How do I know if I qualify for Medicaid-covered home modifications or equipment?
You may qualify if you’re enrolled in a Florida Medicaid waiver program, have a documented medical need for modifications or equipment, and would be at risk of nursing home placement without accessibility improvements. Your support coordinator can confirm your eligibility—if you don’t have one or aren’t sure where to start, complete the form below and we’ll help point you in the right direction.
